Pastor Matt Larson brings a passion to grow a healthy church that is focused on making disciples. He loves raising up leaders and helping people discover who they are in Christ. Matt believes that every Christian has a calling to be God's light to a lost and dark world.
Since accepting Christ as a high school senior, Matt has gotten his B.A. in English at the University of Sioux Falls, and his M.Div. from North American Baptist Seminary. Over the last 2 decades he has served as a Youth Pastor, College and Young Adult Pastor, and as a Men's Pastor.
Matt and his wife Libby have been married for 18 years and have four amazing kids. Matt loves trying to make his wife laugh, he loves a good historical nonfiction book, and he spends most of his free time watching his kids play basketball and soccer.
Since giving his life to Christ during the Jesus movement in Las Vegas back in 1972, Rick Blickenstaff has heeded Paul’s call in Romans 12 to be “a living sacrifice” for the Lord for 47yrs—leaving his old life behind and never looking back. Rick has a combined 14yrs of pastoral leadership in the roles of Teaching Pastor, Lead Pastor, Men’s and Couple’s Pastor, and is currently serving as the Men’s Pastor at Journey Church.
Rick’s passion is for “men to become the leaders that God has called them to be in their homes, businesses and churches”. In addition to his pastoral leadership, Rick has been a successful business owner for 29yrs. He also served on the board of directors in a church for 14yrs and as Vice President of an international missions organization for 7yrs. Rick and his wife Ernie Lee have been married for 47yrs, have three children, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Rick and Ernie Lee have been doing marriage counseling and teaching marriage retreats and conferences for over 30yrs—the pinnacle of which, was teaching four international marriage conferences in Cheng Mai, Thailand where over 25 missionary organizations were represented.
The culmination of his experience and 47yrs of following Christ has led to the following statement; “the greatest hope of the gospel is that we all can be renewed in the spirit of our mind and no one has to stay the way we are, as long as we possess an unwavering commitment to being utterly dependent upon Christ, in all things, at all times”.
As the Worship Director for Journey Church, Amy Oberg brings to the stage her unmistakable love of God and infectious love of people. A few moments spent with Amy will reveal the dynamic character bursting out of her—a beautiful combination of sugar sweet and firecracker. A pastor’s kid from New York, Amy has a rich history and reverence for worship music having been influenced by the early greats—her favorite of which is Keith Green. Amy has held firm to this foundation, grasping the significance and responsibility of leading others into worship by doing so with great care and humility. Her unbridled and unapologetic passion for Jesus is contagious, bringing the congregation to the Throne Room of Christ with the first note resonating from deep within her, then ringing out through their ears and into their hearts. Amy is in every way a worshiper, preserving and offering her gift for His Glory alone, always maintaining that “God is the Main Act”.
In addition to her role as worship director, Amy is also a wife, mother, student and professional. She loves spending time with her family and friends, sitting in her camping chair, sneaking in a little time behind the handlebars of her motorcycle, and enjoying a bit of patio time for coffee and contemplation with her husband. Amy is pursuing and will soon graduate with a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Moody Bible Institute. Having worked for one of the largest international audio-visual companies in the world, Amy adds professional production experience to the mix helping further create an inviting atmosphere for worship. Amy’s passion is to lead others into worship, raise up worship leaders, and guide others into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ—and she does this by simply loving God and loving people.
